Designing and Installing nature inspired and plant focussed gardens and landscapes across North Yorkshire, working with both private and commercial clients.
Rowan Horticulture designs and creates gardens and landscapes across Yorkshire, working with private and commercial clients on projects of all sizes.
With a background in landscape architecture and practical horticulture, we specialise in the design of spaces shaped by plants, From individual borders to wider landscape projects such as wildflower meadows and orchards.
Our approach begins with an understanding of the site, its character and conditions, alongside the needs and ambitions of the client. We believe planting should be central to the design, creating gardens that sit comfortably within their surroundings and develop a relaxed feel over time.
We offer a complete service, from initial concepts and planting plans through to plant sourcing, installation and on-site coordination, working with trusted nurseries and specialist contractors where needed.
Introduction
Testimonials
"Rowan's knowledge really helped me see my garden differently. He produced a wonderful document setting the mood for the space and outlining exactly what it needed."
Consultation client, York
"Rowan was excellent throughout, designing around some genuinely tricky requirements, offering different plans to choose from, sourcing everything himself, and staying in touch through the summer to help with aftercare. A premium service with a friendly, professional manner. Cannot recommend enough."

“Rowan created a very attractive pond for me in a flood-prone depression on my long lawn. He used local stone to construct a low outer wall, and planted colourful perennials, elegant rushes and so on between the wall and the water’s edge. The planting, chosen for its ability to withstand occasional flooding, is already showing plenty of colour. Outside the wall, a slightly higher zone was seeded with wildflowers, which I look forward to seeing appear later in the year. The improvement to the view from my kitchen window is substantial and gratifying. - well worth the investment!”

“Rowan provided an excellent service from start to finish. His proposal was very professional and clearly presented, which gave us confidence in his ideas and approach. Once we approved the proposal, Rowan got quotes for the plants, arranged all the ordering, and kept us well informed throughout the process. He was polite, courteous, punctual, and his communication was brilliant from beginning to end”
